NETFLIX LEAKS 150 EMPLOYEES AFTER LOSS OF SUBSCRIBERS
It became known that the streaming service Netflix fired 150 workers due to the recent sharp drop in the number of its subscribers. Once the streaming standard, Netflix changed an entire industry with its unique film and series release scheme, forcing other major studios to create their own streaming services.
Netflix is currently facing serious competition from HBO Max, Disney+, Peacock, Paramount+ and Amazon Prime.
The streaming service got some bad news last month. First, they faced their first loss of subscribers, which happened for the first time in ten years. Everything got worse
when Netflix canceled the original programming, halting development on an adaptation of the comedy series Bone after years of work.
Deadline reported that Netflix laid off 150 workers from a staff of 11,000 employees. It is likely that most of the lost jobs are in the United States,
and some of them hold major positions in the original content. However, there is no official information about this yet. A public spokesperson for Netflix posted a statement of the layoffs, available below:
“As we have already explained in relation to our earnings, the slowdown in revenue growth means
that we have to significantly slow down the growth of the company's costs. Unfortunately, today we are forced to lay off about 150 employees. Most of them work in the USA. These changes are primarily related to the needs of our business, and not the individual performance of employees, which makes what is happening especially difficult,
because none of us wants to say goodbye to these wonderful colleagues. We are now working hard to support them during this difficult time of transition.”
