PlayStation likely to explore NFTs and blockchain technology
Sony Interactive Entertainment has filed a patent called "Tracking Unique Gaming Digital Assets Using Tokens in a Distributed Ledger". This could mean that PlayStation is looking to implement NFT and blockchain technologies on the platform.
The patent describes a system for tracking the history of an in-game item. It includes information about who created the item, who owned it, and so on.
It is assumed that in this way players will want to collect items that will be created by famous personalities, such as actors, e-sportsmen, and athletes.
“The methods and technologies described here enhance the functionality of video game-related digital assets and the systems that create and manage such digital assets by tracking the history of digital assets,” the description reads.
