Technical Co-founder/CTO (Hydra)
Hydra{https://github.com/Joystream/hydra} is an open source framework for indexing and transforming blockchain data, making it easily accessible for applications in the Polkadot ecosystem. Started as a hackathon project a year ago, Hydra now powers one of the most complex dApps built on top of Substrate chains, such as Joystream Atlas and Subsocial. Hydra with its battle-tested two-tier architecture is uniquely positioned to power the most complex and advanced applications in the Polkadot ecosystem and beyond.
Now we need a technical co-founder to grow Hydra into a self-governed decentralized network, and gradually become a critical building block for Substrate-based Web3 stacks.
Our vision is that the growing complexity of Web3 dApps requires a new toolset for data ingestion and transformation. We believe that the developer’s creative minds should be focused on the application logic, and not be distracted by setting up the data infrastructure. Frequent iterations and short deployment cycles is what we understand by the best-in-class Dev UX.
As a CTO/Technical Co-founder we expect you to:
Be well-connected to the developer community and build a small (1-2 developers) dedicated team of code warriors
Lead the long-term gradual decentralisation of Hydra, from ideation to mainnet
Navigate through trade-offs and prioritize the most needed features in collaboration with CEO
Ensure consistent best practices, processes and procedures for software development and quality assurance
Ensure the partners get the best possible dev experience with short feedback loops and frequent releases
We believe our ideal candidate
Has experience as team lead/CTO for 2+ years and 5+ years of relevant background
Has a track record of building a live product from an idea to production
Has strong opinion on how the future Web3 stack will look like or is eager to deep dive into the Web3 rabbit hole
Has high degree of empathy and can easily relate to developers pains
Nice-to-have: participated in open-source projects in crypto/blockchains
Our Tech Stack
Databases: Redis, Postgres
Backend: Typescript
We are pragmatic and opinionated with our stack and always welcome well-thought suggestions to onboard new tech.
Compensation
Hydra is a well-funded project with a few years runaway. We offer very generous token allocation and competitive salary based on the expectations and experience.
