19 year old artist sold NFT paintings for $19 million
Artist Victor Langlois first achieved widespread publicity after his physical artwork and NFTs sold for $2.16 million at a Christie's auction in New York City. The collection, titled "Hello, I'm Victor and This is My Life," focused on Victor's childhood and his gender transition.
In doing so, Victor's grandmother struggled to understand his artistic pursuits, saying she imagined instead that he would take a more secure career path: "What? Be a lawyer. Your art is ugly, so you can't do it."
With all this, the young artist did not stop, just a few months later, Victor created another collection and sold his digital art for $19 million. He launched an auction on the online platform Nifty Gateway and invited users for 24 hours to buy as many paintings from his collection Paint Drop, which look like drops of paint. About 5,000 people participated in the event.
Initially, the auction was held among the artist's 50 biggest fans, who owned the most tokens. They purchased paintings for $500 each.
