A 14-year-old artist made more than $1 million in 10 hours on NFT
Artist Abigail has been drawing since she was a child and her older brother Adam was a trader. Initially, the girl was skeptical of NFT images and thought they were a hoax. She said these pictures were no different from JPEGs. But her brother explained to her how the technology worked, and together they decided to create the first NFTs.
First Abigail came up with and drew a character - a cute white whale. She had loved these animals ever since she once saw them at the Georgia Oceanarium. Then separately, she created 167 pieces of jewelry, such as glasses, caps and fur coats. The artist did most of the drawings on her iPhone 8.
The brother and sister then turned to a developer to create a script that could combine the whites with the jewelry. They ended up with almost 8,000 pictures, each one unique.
These pictures were then archived and uploaded to the Alpha Art Marketplace. Adam and Abigail earned over $1 million from each sale and gave 10% to Sunshine Kids for kids with cancer and 10% to organizations that help white whales. In total, Abigail and Adam donated $200,000 to charity.
