DAVID CRONENBERG ANNOUNCES NEW FILM

Director David Cronenberg, presenting his new project Crimes of the Future at Cannes, has announced his next film, The Shroud. It's a very busy time for the Canadian director right now, as Crimes of the Future has become one of the most talked about premieres of the popular festival. As critics point out,
this is due to the director's violent content in the film. Cronenberg said he expected the strike to take place within the very first five minutes, mirroring what happened at the festival in 1996, where his film Crash was met with backlash from audiences and demonstrative exits by many. Despite this, it also received the Special Jury Prize.
It is likely that the film "The Shroud" may be another milestone in Cronenberg's controversial career, especially in Cannes. According to Deadline, Vincent Cassel will play the role of Karsh, a man who wields a device that allows people to watch their dead loved ones decompose in the new film. It is currently expected
that active filming of The Shroud will begin in March 2023 and will be carried out by the same team as Cronenberg's Maps to the Stars.
