Michael Pitt, star of Boardwalk Empire and Ghost in the Shell, will join actors Ty Sheridan and Sean Penn in Black Flies. The film will be based on Shannon Burke's novel of the same name and inspired by the author's real-life experience as a paramedic in 1990s New York. Directed by Jean
Stefan Sauveur is directing from a script by Ryan and Burke King. The latter recently wrote the story for The Mentor alongside Tron: Legacy's Garrett Hedlund.

According to Deadline, Pitt has already signed on to play Black Fly. No details about his character have yet been released, so it's unclear just yet.
