Mike Myers has stated that his children are not particularly impressed with him voicing the animated Shrek character and that they do not like the cartoon.

But they are typical modern New York kids. You know, they're like, "We don't like what other people like." They're like a crowd that thinks they're cool. But when they really like something, they forget about everything. Spike even memorized one line from Austin Powers. My youngest is not a fan. She's one of the cool New Yorkers. Child".
